Doing your best is ALWAYS good enough, because when it comes from the authentic YOU then you will always be good enough!

Society teaches us that the very idea that our best isn’t good enough, is normal… But I want to tell you it is not and in fact it does not make much sense. Reality is… Your best is always good enough, because it comes from you, and you are always good enough. If you cannot live up to the expectations of someone else’s idea of the best (which is impossible btw) you will always fail in their eyes, but the good news is that’s not your burden. The good news is you only really need to live up to your own potential, and as long as you remain true to you, authentically, and always do your best to fulfill your true purpose, then you don’t need to look anywhere else for better because you have attained it!

For me, I am always struggling over the idea of trying to do the best work that I can possibly do! Today I was reminded that if I spend to much time striving for the best outcome, I sometimes forget and lose out on all the fun I create daily!!!

Don’t get me wrong, I am always wanting to improve, but today I reminded myself again I would just be me, with my work, my family and my friends because if I am true to that then I am enough!!!

I wanted to share why this came up for me today… I was hiking with a friend to the top of Spencer’s Butte in Eugene Oregon. Not the highest peak but strenuous at times for us all depending on what we each have going on. Ok, moving on.

We reached the top and the sun came out for a minute. It was beautiful and inspiring for sure. We spent a few minutes and then turned around to head down when I noticed a group of about 15 “Kids” ok college students but kids non the less. I asked them where they were from and if they were all students. The response I got, they were from many places and they were all prospective students. So, of course, I went into the story of why this was a great place to come for school, why I moved here and yes… what a good choice we were all making. Of course a comment was made if I was being paid for this… LOL NOPE. I told the group I really just loved talking about how our surrounding were amazing and there for the taking, if we just allow ourselves to smell the roses and take the time to enjoy everything in the now. I kind of pointed out how they should work hard but play harder, but the intention was to enjoy what you are doing and not try to keep up with the “Kardashian’s” (Yes, I am from California…) I then, thanked the students for listening to my impromptu Life Coaching Session and moved on. My heart was on fire and I loved it… LOL

On my way down the trail, I remembered how we are not all striving for the same outcomes, because if we were then we would lose out on creativity, and alternate ways of getting things done…. Which would mean no different opinions and always the same ways of doing things…. Which is not only boring and wrong it would also take away from the fact that if each and every person was doing their best then the fact is, it IS ALWAYS good enough, because when it comes from the authentic YOU then you will always be good enough! No matter what work you are doing!

I challenged myself on the trail, why I started that conversation with the students and what outcome I was looking for and I think I wasn’t really looking for an outcome but instead the opportunity to show the “Kids” that letting go of the idea of holding ourselves up to others standards and letting go of the belief that we need to compete with the “Kardashians” does not mean that we can not win by doing our best because, that, is an impossible feet! If we can show our future profession leaders that creating a life free of regret, striving to do our best and knowing that they can preform to the best of their abilities is enough then that will always make them winners! Besides it allows us all to feel great satisfaction in all of our efforts, regardless of how others see what the outcome should be.

So once again I state… Every day should be our best day!

Doing your best is ALWAYS good enough, because when it comes from the authentic YOU then you will always be good enough!

Peace and Happiness

Shugar

Doing your best is ALWAYS good enough, because when it comes from the authentic YOU then you will always be good enough!
