As you all may or may not know, my mother was an incredibly kind and generous person, in her own way of course. When she was happy with you, you definitely knew it, but, when she wasn’t, well, all I can do is apologize for her now…Though, she always came around to apologize in her own way, it just wasn’t always to the person directly…. So, you may not have known it.
Some of the better memories I have of mom are of her love for travel…the importance of family time, her chocolate candy making days and her love for exploring, in the RV, traveling around the United States, no matter how far it was, just so we could see it all.
In the end, Mom’s biggest pleasure was watching my kids grow up, being a part of their daily lives and of course traveling once again and exploring with her grandchildren! They could not have asked for a better Traveling companion.
I was with my mom during her last few days here on earth. We sat together a lot… well to be fair, she didn’t have much of a choice, as I was not going anywhere, but I’d like to believe it was good for us both. In the end, Mom could not really talk any longer, but she amazed us all when she opened her eyes, as all of my kids arrived in her room, and as clear as day said to them “thank you for coming, I love you, and I will not see you again” making sure, even in the end, her words were heard by those she loved the most.
Mom did not talk after that moment. Though I felt her presence and her anger regarding what was happening towards the end, I know deep down that she was ready to be escorted by loved ones to her next location of her journey! Mom took her last breath, with us all by her side, listening to a Rock N Roll song by Elvis Presley…”Can’t help falling in Love”.
Though Mom is no longer here in the physical universe, I hope her soul is stronger and at peace, now learning faster than ever on her continued journey. Mom, Nana or BS as some called her, you will not easily be forgotten!
OK, I have rewritten the closing of this a million times… That being said, I have decided to just finish it off with a poem I wrote moments before mom’s death. I can’t feel her anymore, but I know that will change when the time is right, so for now I will cherish the moment I wrote this!!!
I can still hear you
Still feel you
Still see you
Can you do the same
I thank you
I honor you
I want to make you proud
For you always do the same
Things change
We will adapt
Take the challenge
Let’s do this together
If you want to fly
I understand
Freedom is personal
I will support your decision
For now, I will hold space
I will listen to your wishes
I will respect your choices
I will help you through this
Don’t be afraid
Do what you desire
For you are in control
Enjoy your continued journey
I respect you
I honor you
I trust you
I love you

To everyone reading this
I want to continue spreading the message of LOVE, PEACE and HAPPINESS. Everybody deserves that, but, as I am reminded lately, not everyone feels that they can have it or that they are capable of receiving it or giving it for that matter. I want to help enlighten others that everyone deserves this no matter what their past, present or future may look like.
Spread a simple act such as saying Hello, Thank You, or maybe even a Smile, a ride to the local store or a high five, maybe even a change of plans to help someone out just because. Just take the time. For if we start here and spread the meaning of LOVE, PEACE and HAPPINESS then maybe others will too.
Peace out
