Do you remember when you were a kid and looking forward to the days at school where you went on a field trip to the zoo, local aquarium, or even the museum? It always felt like a break from the day to day school schedule were things seemed so boring, scheduled, forced or hectic (maybe if you had finals…). Field trips seem like the break from reality that we all needed.
Well, as adults how many of you have taken a “field trip” to just get away from the day to day life as an adult with all of its craziness and responsibilities?
I have signed my own permission slip to go on “Field Trip” Wednesdays and it always is a way to renew my energy and just take a moment or time out away from craziness to enjoy a day and just Be…. Be in the now for just a little while with permission from me!
It is time for us all to learn or remember that getting stuck in the day to day routines of life can make life seem boring, depressing or even maybe not worth it…. By adding in variety by allowing yourself to go on “Field Trips” can bring you adventure because taking a Field Trip as an adult can take you anywhere and can be healing too!
“Field Trips” can be a few hours or a full get away like a retreat in the mountains. But it will always be an opportunity to explore and maybe even find out something new about yourself.
Some field trips I have taken:
A day at the local duck pond with a picnic and a best friend;
A quick get away to the snow for fun, sledding and shopping;
A tip to the local crystal store;
Buying good food and then cooking impromptu;
Going for a good meal at a local restaurant ending with drinks;
Hanging at the beach borrowing a Frisbee and tossing it around all while laughing under the sun’s rays;
Sitting under a tree and writing a poem for hours all while just breathing in fresh air.
There are many other ideas! Try going into nature for an afternoon of walking along the beach, or hiking along a trail in the forest, maybe even go shopping or for a drink out with friends, all of this counts! Just remember that you must give yourself permission to take the Field Trip because then you can and will enjoy it in the now.
Put aside the schedules and daily routine a focus on here you are and what you are doing be in the NOW. ps don’t forget part of the fun is a little planning😊
Going on a field trip can and will add excitement to your life, take away the craziness of day to day boring and start a tradition of planning for a fun day for you every once in a while.
