Let me jump right in….

I have logged 7 hikes in the last 10 days or so and some might just say that’s normal for me – “The happy hiker that pushes how NatureHeals“

However, I have a confession…. I have been slacking for several months. Yes, I still hike weekly with clients but lately I have not gotten out much and hiked just for  me. Luckily though, today was different. We headed out to a new hike I have never done and even though I was not so excited about going, once we got to the trail things changed! I was reminded once again why I do what I do and why I always push the fact that NatureHeals!

Let me explain – First there was the joy of seeing a new trail which brought about the excitement of adventure. Next there was the awe-inspiring pictures I got to take which always makes me smile. Then there were the thoughts of creating a new art project with my ideas from the day. Last but certainly not least there was  the warmth I felt on my face while walking into the sun after the fog began to lift, which felt as if my soul was being lifted by the warmth I felt so strongly.

Now if that doesn’t explain how good today’s hike was let me say it another way…. Today was a type of come to Jesus awakening for me (again)! Come on don’t be offended… I’m sure we have all heard this saying and have had these moments (though we might call them something different).

Is it worrisome sometimes we need these reminding moments which result in a redo life-plan of sorts? Nope, I don’t think so, it just means we are human, we get caught up in “things” that are not necessarily moving us forward but somehow eventually if we let them, these things will, in a convoluted way, have an important impact on our forward movement!

Can anyone relate?

I guess the point I am making here is we all get sidetracked on our “Journeys,” “Paths” or “Professional Ambitions”! Whatever you have been taught to call it, reality is it is our personal plan for our lives. It’s the ideas of what we wanted to do from the time we were so young and still able to dream. It is the “journey” that you want to take because it brings you happiness and excitement and hope for the future. It is you just being you!

So, can you relate? Do you have feelings of getting sidetracked in life and needing a reminder of why you do what you do?

Hiking and being in nature can be a powerful way to reconnect with ourselves and our goals, and I’m proud and lucky that I found this to be true in my life and that I share it with all that will listen.

It is important to take time for ourselves and to do things that bring us joy and fulfillment, and nature is a good place to start. Don’t forget it is important to remember that its okay to take a break and recharge and that we don’t have to be perfect all the time. Life can be hectic and its okay to take some time every now and then to recharge or have a come to Jesus’ moment or to just change direction to that of where you remember you want to go.

Remember NatureHeals!
