“When the world feels heavy, remember you are not meant to carry it all. You are meant to root, breathe, and rise again.” Shugar
There’s a quiet kind of strength that comes from slowing down. We live in a world that celebrates motion – fast results, endless goals, and constant noise and boy is this constant noise a big one. But calm and grace, the kind that restores us, is found in stillness. It’s in the breath between thoughts, the pause between steps, and the soft hum of the earth reminding us that we belong (you can hear it if you try I promise).
To be grounded in grace means to stand steady even when life shifts beneath your feet. It’s not about perfection, it’s about permission. Permission to rest, to feel, to release what’s too heavy to hold.
Quick story; I was in the store yesterday with my better half and I just got off a call that ran a ripple up and down my back and yes the tears (small but mighty) started down my face. The keys to the car were pushed my way and I stood tall and said nope Im going to stay here and finish. This is real life….. At that moment I was standing very steady and was feeling the feels and in my heart I knew I would not be judged….
After this instance, I remembered that I KNOW – Science tells us that spending time outdoors reduces anxiety and increases serotonin. So when I got home I went outside for a short amount of time. Because I know the deeper truth is that nature reminds us how to be gentle with ourselves. Trees don’t rush their growth. Rivers don’t apologize for changing course. The forest doesn’t question its worth when the leaves fall. So I felt safe!
Here is my question for you; What if you could see yourself through nature’s eyes?
When we connect with the ground barefoot on cool grass, leaning against a tree, or simply sitting on the earth, we reconnect with our nervous system’s natural rhythm. Our breath slows. Our mind softens. Gratitude rises.
Here’s a practice to try this week:
Find a patch of ground in your backyard, at a park or a garden trail and take three slow breaths. As you inhale, imagine the earth’s energy rising to meet you. As you exhale, release what no longer serves you. Whisper a quiet thank-you.
Then ask yourself: Where can I offer grace today? Maybe it’s to your body for being tired. Maybe it’s to a friend for being human. Or maybe it’s to yourself for showing up, even when the world feels unsteady.
Grace isn’t weakness. It’s wisdom. It’s the part of you that knows when to move forward and when to stay still. It’s what allows the storm to pass without tearing your roots from the soil.
When you live grounded in grace, you begin to trust that every season every loss, every change has meaning. And just like the trees, you’ll learn that letting go is not the end of your growth. It’s the beginning of your becoming.
So today, plant your feet. Take a breath. Let the ground remind you that you are supported always.
