Hello everyone. Anyone who knows me knows I eat a Vegan diet, but those same people know I was not always a “vegan eater” or “healthy eater” for that matter. It was only when I finally got it through my thick head that how I eat and drink impacts my focus, mood, stress and body health that I began to eat healthier and feel better! I am thankful I finally got it!
In simple terms – food is fuel and only fuel – the food we eat – we MUST rely on for energy, like a car relies on gas to run and without it things just STOP!!!
As humans we rely on food, we look to it for pleasure, we count on it as if it were our best friend (as it is always there), we even sometimes take it for granted because it is so readily available, oh and it is legal to be addicted to it. Yup, that’s all true even the part where food can be an addiction. Hell I used to live everyday knowing that I could have my ice cream after dinner (or in the middle of the night if I wanted) and that I could always eat in front of others a gourmet meal because everyone thought it was cool… when in fact I was just feeding my addiction of needing my next meal, did not really matter what it was.
OK, back to the matter at hand. Eating healthy. Most people after they finally decide to eat healthy and “do it right for their body” find life starts to become more amazing. Theres only one problem– our connection as humans with eating habits and well-being is not fully understood.
What we do know is some foods can and do impair your cognitive functioning and deplete our energy while others make us feel energized and excited. What we eat and drink can and does have a powerful effect on our ability to focus and stress levels.
Maybe you feel its time for a change? A simple change in diet can have a huge positive impact on your life.
Start by taking the time to journal how you feel after eating a meal paying close attention to what you ate specifically. Explore this daily, notice any anxiety or brain fog after eating? if so this can show a food allergy or food sensitivity, and since you are journaling your food you can now feel empowered to treat your symptoms just by changing your diet!
Lets remember that the benefits of a healthier diet will be take effect pretty quickly. Sugar, saturated fats, wheat, and dairy products are frequently allergens and can stress the body. Eating these items can possibly cause imbalances in the physical self as mentioned above, and will have a negative effect on the body’s ability to nourish the brain. Pay attention and journal so you figure out the dos and don’ts for you.
So, humor me here for a minute and lets think about this… If the nutrition in the food you eat powers the body, can it be even more feasible that that same food powers the mind? If your answer is yes then it might be time to look at a change in your diet!
So now is the time to go deeper and realize that all this can also mean that different foods can bring on different moods, add to stress or make you feel content!
Water, fiber, nuts, unprocessed foods, fruit and vegetables, support physical and mental good health by providing all the nutrients we do need without additional substances we definitely don’t need. Our mental and physical selves are closely bound to one another, so we must feed both with foods our bodies can handle.
A balanced, natural diet is the answer!
If you need some ideas give me a call! But remember clean no processed food is the best!
