The Lost Coast Trail

We will hit the trail, and promptly lose ourselves in the vast beauty of the coast. There are no roads on this section of the coast–the terrain is too rugged. There is no cell phone coverage. We will see few people. We will be disconnected from the modern world, and reconnecting to the land, the sea and ourselves, which will be amazing

The Lost Coast is so named because this land was too steep and rugged to build a road. Highway 1 veers inland 20 miles around this remote section of coastline. There are no roads along this trail. Just getting to the trailhead is a journey in itself.

Difficulty: Moderately strenuous multi-day
The Lost Coast Trail stretches 25+ miles through the King Range National Conservation Area.  We will be hiking from Mattole Beach in the north to the village of Shelter Cove in the south. The trail is fairly flat (there are a few hills to climb) but don’t let that fool you the Earths terrain is always challenging. We will be hiking over or on coarse black sand to pebbly beaches; from slippery, wave-smoothed stones the size of bowling balls to solid flat ground. Important to NOTE: Sections of the trail are completely impassable at high tide, making timing and tide chart knowledge essential and weather can be and is highly unpredictable.

We will hike the Lost Coast Trail over four days and three nights — This will be a comfortable pace that will allow for flexibility in our hiking schedule to accommodate the high tides. We will start with a rough itinerary, but are open to a change of planned camp location etc based on our group leaders knowledge. We will Hike and have a plan, but plan to be flexible. The Lost Coast demands it.

Lost Coast Trail Tips

  • We can camp anywhere on the Lost Coast, but we will always try to use previously established campsites, to minimize impact on the environment.
  • We will carry a tide chart and know where the impassable sections are! While in those sections, we will keep an eye on the ocean. A rogue wave can sneak up at any time, and unsuspecting hikers have been swept out to sea.
  • There is zero cell phone reception on the Lost Coast Trail. We will have to use backcountry smarts to handle any emergency that arises. Of course, we should all be carrying the Ten Essentials.
  • We probably will not have any rain on our trip (July is historic a low-rainfall on this otherwise very wet trail). Even so, everyone needs to carry a tarp for rain and covering things up at night.  Anything that isn’t covered will got wet with condensation from the fog. So cover up!

We need everyone to arrive at Shelter Cove as early as possible on the 16th  no later than 1:30 as we will then have to shuttle to Mattole Beach on July 16th. Mattole Beach, which is two hours away from Shelter Cove, it is only 25 miles if you hike the Lost Coast, but to drive there takes approximately two hours.  NOTE: If you are doing the second leg of this trail then arrival at Shelter Cove needs to be on the 21st We will start from Shelter Cove so no shuttling needed but we will start early on the 22nd.    Everyone will park at shelter cover black sand beach lot. There is little cell service there so Please just wait in the parking lot for all to arrive.

WEEK 5- Is there more than one kind of purpose

Week 5 – we will explore if you are meant for more than one purpose.  This will take you deeply inward to really explore you!  Maybe you are meant for more than one purpose?  Maybe you are not.  Let’s explore!

WEEK 6- Time to Clarify You

Week 6 – This week is the week to take the time to look, really look at what your true purpose and intentions are and to clarify your lie purpose! This will take you on a ride of exploration and truth.

WEEK 7- The Ego and Your Soul

Week 7 – Will show you how your Ego nd your Soul come into play in your life and your happiness towards your true purpose.  This is the time to learn when to hold onto this and when to let them go!

 WEEK 8- Writing Your Purpose Declaration

Week 8 – During this week you will spend time writing your personal Purpose declaration.  A formal statement and statement to yourself to take the final steps of learning to follow you true purpose!  This is key as it is a contact and reminder to yourself of true intentions, correct paths and True purposes for you to follow towards your happiness.
