One of my favorite tools as a Life Coach is to show the importance of journaling for the following reasons…

  1. To help Achieve Goals – Journaling will often include writing about your dreams and goals. Writing down your dreams and goals reminds your brain“this is important”. The more detailed you write about your dreams and goals, the more likelihood of achieving them.
  2. Improve Communication Skills – Journaling is a form of written communication, even though it is just for your purpose. By journaling about your dreams and goals you will help yourself to be able to share with others, ask for advice and pretty much engage others when needed to help you, because sometimes we just need help – no shame
  3. Healing – Detailed writing is a road to healing, emotionally, physically, and psychologically.  “When we translate an experience into language we essentially make the experience graspable.”Dr. James Pennebaker – and in doing so, you free yourself from mentally being tangled in traumas, fears and self-doubt. Also rumor has it… studies have shown that journaling lowers anxiety, stress, and induces better sleep (if you know me that last one is very important).
  4. Self-Confidence – Journaling about a positive experience allows your brain to relive it and can help remind you of your abilities when self-doubt appears.
