We all get to deal with negative humans from time to time and boy can it be challenging, but, we can choose to handle the situation by not responding to their behavior and instead, to put forth our best positive behavior to serve as an example. 

I always say treat others the way you want to be treated and I try really hard to keep this up in my daily life.

Let us be real. In life we deal with a variety of human personalities, quirks and frankly bullshit which results in someone’s behavior affecting us negatively.  This can come in the form of a loud human, a negative human, a “bad apple”, or someone who is full of toxicity to you in your personal life who creates chaos and distractions.

I hope that these words can and will remind you that it is important to remember that negativity by others can only effect your mood if you let it.  Instead of playing into the behaviors you choose to be patient and not respond or act then you limit the power they try to instill on you and your environment.  Also by turning things around and encouraging them to change their negative behavior by setting examples you will have done more for you, the other human and frankly others by setting a good example.  Let’s remember sometimes it is just attention negativity wants and other times it is destruction but if examples are set and shown then things could change. 

At this point most coaches or ‘helpers” will tell you to instantly disconnect from negative people.  I have been known to recommend this too instantly in certain situations.  But I also like to remind people that you should look at the motivations of others. Doing so can help you see if another is toxic and someone you do not want in your tribe due to all the negativity, and that maybe their negativity is a way of getting attention for help.  Which by the way still may not be who you want around which is OK, but at least you understand some of the mechanics of it to make the right choice. 

Please remember as humans In the face of negativity, our first impulse is often to express anger. However, it’s empowering to choose not to let it impact you. By not allowing negative people to get into your space, you are in control of your experiences and not letting anyone else affect you.
